Evan Bouchard's OT Winner Lifts Oilers Past Stars

Oilers Take Early Lead in Series

The Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars kicked off the Western Conference Final on Thursday, with the Oilers emerging victorious in a thrilling overtime battle. Evan Bouchard's second goal of the game, a power-play blast from the point, gave the Oilers a 4-3 win and a 1-0 lead in the series.

The Oilers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. However, the Stars battled back to tie the game in the second period with goals from Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz.

The third period was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading chances. Bouchard gave the Oilers the lead again with a wrist shot from the slot, but the Stars tied it once more with a goal from Miro Heiskanen.

In overtime, the Oilers controlled the puck for most of the period and eventually capitalized on a power play. Bouchard's shot from the point found its way through traffic and past Jake Oettinger, giving the Oilers the win.

Mike Smith made 34 saves for the Oilers, while Oettinger stopped 36 shots for the Stars. The two teams will meet again in Game 2 of the series on Saturday in Edmonton.
